Role of the Governing Council
The Magill Campus and Community Children’s Centre is a not for profit children’s centre and as such is run by a Governing Council which comprises no less than 5 nor more than a maximum of 13 members. The members of the Council are elected at the AGM and are a mix of parents and staff from the Centre
The members are elected for a one (1) year period of office (except for the Director) and Governing Council members standing down are eligible for re-election.
In discharging its powers, the Director and each Governing Council member will be bound by the Associations & Corporations Act 2009, the Constitution and all policies of Centre.
Responsibilities:
- Setting of strategic directions
- Developing and monitoring policies which provide direction and boundaries for both its own and the Director’s functions
- Informing themselves in order to exercise judgement about management and its processes
- Monitoring changes in government policy and community attitudes
- Reviewing performance against targets and objectives – Quality Improvement Plan
- Addressing issues relating to risk management
- Approving major investments
- Communicating goals, expectations and concerns with the Director
In all its dealings, the Governing Council will maintain high ethical standards and a commitment to fair and equitable practices.
